Returning with their latest single, Pink Magic, Leeds quintet Fizzy Blood have consistently proved themselves as a rising force within the British DIY rock scene. With 2017 presenting the band on an almost constant touring schedule alongside names such as Arcane Roots and Dinosaur Pile-Up, 2018 has refused to let them rest up.
Having polished off their debut headline tour earlier in the year with a sold-out Leeds show, the band have revealed a video for their latest track, alongside two UK headline shows for September.
Of their latest release, drummer Jake Greenway states,
“We were really taken back by the reaction to Pink Magic, it’s a step in a different direction for us and to see and hear people loving it is great, we hope people enjoy the video just as much. The idea for it was to make something that was more aesthetically pleasing and let the music do the talking rather than relying on our rather usual assault the senses. We filmed it with the guys from Fresh Cut Creative who were an absolute pleasure to work with and enabled all of our stupid ideas."
Pink Magic follows the band's previous single CFO, which landed the Leeds quintet their first daytime BBC Radio 1 play courtesy of Clara Amfo. Both tracks are supported by the PRSF Momentum Fund and feature on their forthcoming track-titled EP 'Pink Magic', due in September on Killing Moon/Alya Records.
In discussion surrounding the upcoming EP, guitarist Paul Howells states,
“It's taken us a few years to figure out who we are as a band and this is the happiest we've ever been with our music. In the UK music scene, it’s easy to get boxed in, we've managed to tour with the likes of While She Sleeps and then go straight on to hit the road with Spring King, very different crowds, and very different music. However, this has taught us that we're not a metal band and we're not an indie band, we want to be the band that excites all listeners of music and more. 'Pink Magic' is our third EP, and what we believe to be the most accurate representation of who we are as a band and where we want to take our music moving forward.”
Alongside a new music video and a promise of new music in the coming months, Fizzy Blood have also added to their summer festival plans, with two more headline dates set to take place in Leeds and London this September. Drummer Jake Greenway says,
"We’re chuffed to announce two more headline shows for you all. Leeds was a complete sell out last time and London was very close despite the all-encompassing snow and it’s safe to say these were some of our favourite shows ever. We can’t wait to get back out there and play some music. These are the last two shows we’ll be playing for a long while before we go into hiding and collect all our ducks and put them neatly in a row, so make sure you come down or we’ll miss you loads.”
